Ivan Bartoš launched the reorganisation of the digitalisation of the state administration. Expert Centre will set the technological direction and improve the culture of digitalisation management

Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalisation and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš has submitted to the Government a draft law on the establishment of the Digital and Information Agency (DIA). The Agency's aim is to make pre-filled tax return forms or benefit applications available to the population, which will significantly reduce their administrative costs.

Government representatives discussed with members of the National Economic Council how to address the impact of the energy crisis

Two materials were presented, so far in working versions, as input to the government for further discussion and inspiration. The first is the "Energy Poverty Alleviation Package", which proposes, among other things, to convert the taxpayer rebate into a tax bonus for the lowest income employees, and the second is the tax on extraordinary income/profits.

Economy to go through mild recession due to war, average inflation to reach 16.2% this year

The Ministry of Finance released its August macroeconomic forecast, which will serve as the basis for the state budget for 2023. The forecast scenario will be examined by the Committee on Budget Forecasts on 30 August.

Summer of Mercy II begins 1 September 2022

Borrowers who want to clear their debts without having to pay the costs of foreclosure and high interest will get a second chance. The Summer of Mercy II will begin on 1 September 2022 and run through 30 November 2022 and is for anyone who wants to pay off their debts to public institutions.

The government has amended the protection of employees in the event of employer insolvency

The government's bill introduces more precise conditions for the submission and processing of requests for satisfaction of wage claims owed by employees whose employer has become insolvent.

CZK 5.25 billion for businesses. The MIT will support research, development and innovation projects from OP TAK
The MIT has announced the first calls for research, development and innovation from the Operational Programme Technology and Applications for Competitiveness (OP TAK). CZK 5.25 billion is available from EU funds for small and medium-sized enterprises, but also for large enterprises. For the Applications, Innovations and Proof of Concept calls, it will be possible to submit applications from 1 September to 30 November 2022. For the Innovation Vouchers - Protection of Industrial Property Rights call the deadline is 31 December 2023.

Czech Social Security Administration and Health Insurance Office

This year's third valorisation will increase pensions by CZK 700 on average

In accordance with Government Decree No. 136/2022 Coll., all paid-out pensions will increase by 5.2% from the September instalment. The reason for the third valorisation this year is high inflation. Pensions will thus increase by an average of CZK 600 to 800.

The European Commission is investigating the long-term health insurance of foreigners in the Czech Republic

Last year, the Public Health Insurance Act was amended to require that foreigners with a long-term stay of more than 90 days must be insured only with the VZP insurance company. The latter is a subsidiary of the General Health Insurance Company. The Commission is looking into the situation because of suspected infringements of competition and fundamental European rights.

On 1 February 2021, Government Decree No. 25/2021 Coll., amending Government Decree No. 351/2013 Coll., which regulates certain issues of the Commercial Bulletin, public registers of legal and natural persons and registers of trust funds and registers of data on beneficial owners, entered into force. Pursuant to Article 18 of the said Regulation, the format in which documents that do not prove the facts stated in the proposal for registration, amendment or deletion of an entry in the public register are submitted has been specified. These may be financial statements or annual reports. These documents are filed electronically in accordance with the Regulation in Portable Document Format (pdf extension) with a text layer (the document is machine-readable, i.e. a certain part of the text can be marked and copied) or in Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML extension). At the same time, the signature of the person who signed the document may be replaced on a document filed in electronic form by the words "in his own hand" or by the abbreviation "m.p.", which will appear next to the signatory's surname.
